If you are like most people, the sheer number of places to have a party can be overwhelming. It is not an exaggeration to say that any decent-sized city will have dozens of party venues available, which means making dozens of phone calls, and meeting with dozens of venue representatives, and asking the same questions about price and amenities.
Our goal, in this article, is to make your job easier. We are Tarrant Events Center, serving the Greater Fort Worth area with our affordable all-purpose event center. Call us at 817-996-3636 for more information.
The obvious cost for places to have a party.
The most obvious cost for party venues is the one posted on the venue website. There, for all to see, is the price for a half-day rental or full-day, and for any other “extras” which we will discuss a bit later in this article.
What is that price of a party space rental? If you were hoping this article would provide you with a boilerplate answer to that question, you were mistaken. The price for party room rentals varies from city to city, and can vary greatly within a city, depending upon location and the popularity of a particular venue. For a rather exaggerated example, renting Disneyland for a birthday party will cost quite a bit more than renting your local VFW Hall.
The only way to determine the “going rate” for an event room rental is to pick up the phone and start calling all of the venues in your area. You have a budget, so you can start eliminating venues bases upon the budget.
The hidden costs for places to have a party.
This is where it all gets quite complicated. Leasing a venue is only part of the cost factor. A party needs food. A party needs decorations. A party needs servers and music and/or entertainment. In fact, these secondary expenses quite often cost more than the venue itself.
These things can be hired out, or you can roll up your sleeves in a gesture of DIY solidarity and do them yourself. The cost of hiring them out i.e. hiring a caterer or a professional decorator, will be found out by calling around and doing the necessary sleuthing process.
And then you have secondary expenses absolutely no one thinks about, which we will cover in the next section.
Tack on the secondary costs.
Are there hidden fees for having too many guests? Are there hidden fees for using the linens provided by the venue? Are there hidden fees for too many parked vehicles? These examples may sound ridiculous, but they happen, and you can protect yourself from them happening by insisting upon all inclusive pricing, a policy which simply states that what you agreed upon in the rental contract is the price you will pay when payment is due.
As we stated earlier, there is no boilerplate answer to the question regarding the price for places to have a party. The only way to find the answer to that question is to do your due diligence and start calling.
