This question about renting party venues is one most people do not think to ask at the time of signing a rental agreement, but it is a question which could save them considerable money at the time of the event. Let’s explore it in further detail in this article.
We are Tarrant Events Center, serving the Greater Fort Worth area with our all-purpose event center. Call us at 817-996-3636 for more information.
The cost of renting party venues.
To understand the importance of BYOB, you must first understand the bigger picture. Party venues can cost, depending upon the city you are in, anywhere from $500 per event to over $5000 per event, and that is just the rental fee.
Once the rental fee is paid, it is then time to turn your attention to the actual cost of the party. This includes the cost of food, the cost of decorations, and cost of insurance, or entertainment and yes, the cost of beverages. These “secondary costs” can easily cost you more than the rental fee, and that is why the next point is so important.
Saving money where you can.
We at Tarrant Events Center are strong advocates of the DIY movement; in fact, we designed our event center with DIY in mind. We offer a finishing kitchen precisely for those clients who would like to prepare the food themselves, so they have a place to keep that food fresh during the party. We provide a list of trusted vendors, food trucks, etc., to help you in finding a less-expensive alternative to the notable, and expensive, local restaurants.
And we also encourage people to BYOB and have Cousin Vinnie serve as bartender for the event. We even included two VIP room in our location, one of which could serve as a beverage room during the event. That way you are saving on the cost of a professional bartender and you most likely are saving on the cost of the alcohol as well.
There is only one hiccup to this plan, which we will discuss in the next section.
Not everyone allows BYOB.
Not all party room rentals allow BYOB, and that decision can be their own preference, or it can do with the location and the local liquor laws.
Why would a party space rental company not allow BYOB? Simply because they will receive a kickback from the bar which is contracted with to provide the liquor and bartender.
All of that is to say make sure you check with the event center and find out if BYOB is allowed, and double check with the local liquor governing agency to make sure you are within the letter of the law regarding BYOB. The last thing you want is to be fined for breaking local liquor laws during your party.
One other word of caution and that is to make sure you obtain temporary party insurance for your event. It is extremely inexpensive and it will give you the peace of mind you desire in liability insurance.
