Now, let’s talk about insurance.
Party room rentals do come with some insurance coverage.
All buildings come with liability insurance, including party venues. This is usually general liability insurance covering any accidents or damage which occur because of the property. An example would be a frost heave in the parking lot, someone trips over that frost heave, and breaks an arm. Or there is a sudden pipe burst in the kitchen and a client’s decorations are ruined.
This insurance protects the building owner in case of injury or damage, but what about the people who rent the building for single events? Are they liable during the event?
The insurance you are responsible for with party room rentals.
The short answer to that question is yes, they are. If a party attendee trips over wiring laid out for the entertainment band, the renter of the event space rental will be liable. If someone slips on spilled water, the renter of the event room rental will be liable.
If you are planning to rent a party room, it is advisable to purchase event liability insurance. This type of insurance may help cover expenses if you are found responsible for property damage or an injury caused during your celebration.
You really cannot afford to ignore this liability.
Our suggestion is this: As soon as you have paid a deposit to rent an event center, you should then pick up the phone and call your insurance agent. The agent will ask you a series of questions about your event, the number of attendees, the nature of the entertainment, and they will then give you a recommendation on the type of coverage, and the amount of coverage, you will need.
You need to take that recommendation to heart and follow it. It simply is not worth it to be on the receiving end of a lawsuit for damages or injury, a lawsuit which could easily amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars, worst case scenario.
What does event insurance cost? On average between $75 and $200 per event, depending upon the type of event and the number of attendees.
We have seen the worst-case scenario play out, so we wrote this article so that you do not have to see it.
