What you need to know about renting a banquet hall.
The first thing you need to know about any event space rental is this: No two banquet halls are the same. This is both good news and bad. Good news because it means you have many options: bad because you have many options and it can all be a bit confusing.
Listen to the voice of experience: Before you even begin your search, have a vision. We want you to sit down and imagine what your banquet will look like? Imagine it all and have a laptop handy so you can jot down notes. How many people? How are the tables arranged? Is there a stage? Is there a kitchen? How are the servers dressed? Will you have entertainment? How about decorations? Is there a theme?
Once you have done that, you begin your phone search with your budget. The goal is to eliminate as many options as possible based on your budget. If you have a rental budget of $3000, you will immediately eliminate the Top Third from consideration, but you will need to man the phones to find out.
Having eliminated the Top Third, you now need to visit the others, with your vision in your mind, and find the best of the rest which allow you to make your vision a reality.
Make your best choice and move on after making the reservation.
Actually, in our professional opinion, choosing the right event hall rental is the easy part. Arranging for decorations, food preparation, and entertainment all fall under the “difficult” part of this activity.
All of this takes time, and that is why we always encourage people to rent a facility a full year in advance. This will give you ample time to take care of the time-consuming planning for the food, decorations, and entertainment. The devil is in the details when it comes to dinner/party planning, and a year seems like a great amount of time when, in reality, it will fly by much too quickly.
Here’s two pieces of advice to save money and eliminate angst.
Our two pieces of advice are these: Adopt a DIY attitude if you have a small budget and rent a banquet hall which allows for great flexibility.
This is an unpopular opinion in the banquet industry, but preparing your own food for an event is much less expensive, as is doing the decorating yourself and hiring friends for entertainment. You can literally save thousands of dollars by rolling up your sleeves and doing the work yourself, with the help of friends, of course.
Flexibility of design? Take our own Tarrant Events Center for an example. Ten floor plans to choose from. A finishing kitchen. Two VIP rooms in addition to the main banquet hall. Over an acre of landscaped grounds. Multiple big screen monitors. A moveable stage. Add it all up and it means options for you as you plan the perfect banquet.
