The reason why cheap wedding venues are so attractive is, obviously, the rental cost. We have seen wedding venues rent for as low as $500 per event. Compare that to venues which rent for $5000 or more, and it is easy to see why many people, scraping by to make a buck, would opt for the $500 price.
Before we go any further, it should be noted that our own Tarrant Events Center, with a great location in a very large city, is priced between $2000-$3000 per event, depending upon the day of the week, and that puts us in the bottom third regarding pricing in the Fort Worth area.
The pitfalls with cheap wedding venues
The problem with cheap wedding venues is in what they don’t have. With many of them, all you are receiving is the event room rental. There are no amenities offered, no sound system, no visual equipment, no stage, no tables, chairs, WiFi . . . simply a room to rent, and those amenities will cost extra because you almost always need them. That extra cost will be added to the rental price, and suddenly that $500 rental costs a great deal more.

Stated earlier, our own event space rental is among the affordable wedding venues, priced as it is, but the amenities we offer make us a great value. We offer the main event room, two VIP rooms, a finishing kitchen, an acre of landscaped grounds, tables, chairs, multiple floor design options, a stage, cordless microphones, and state of the art sound and visual systems.
This, then, is a personal decision, and a subjective one, pitting the bare-bones rental vs the rental filled with amenities. What are those amenities worth to you, the client? Do they make a place like ours more affordable and more attractive, or does the lowest price win the day?

We want to make two more suggestions to you regarding pricing. One is that most reputable event venue locations will take reservations a full-year in advance, a great offer which protects you against price increases in the upcoming year. The second suggestion is to always ask for all-inclusive pricing, meaning there will be no surprise surcharges added to your rental total. The price you agree upon when you make the reservation is the final price you will pay upon completion of the event.
