Each year in the U.S., there are approximately 2.4 million weddings. There are approximately 150,000 weddings in Canada each year. The average amount spent on weddings, in the U.S., is $28,000; in Canada, $19,000.
It is our contention that an average of $3000 could be saved for each of those weddings if people would simply follow the advice we give in this article.
Shall we begin?
Traditionally, wedding venues plus reception venues
You all know how the traditional wedding is planned. You rent a wedding venue, where the wedding will be held, and then you rent a reception venue, where the reception will be held afterwards. This approach has been the preferred approach for, oh, say one-hundred years, possibly longer.
And it’s a nice approach if your last name is Rockefeller, or Gates, and money has very little meaning to you.
Unfortunately, for 99% of us, that traditional approach means paying for two event room rentals, and that gets expensive very quickly.
Take our own Tarrant Events Center for example. We charge between $2000-$3000 per event, depending upon the day of the week. We do not rent half-day, nor do many event centers, meaning customers must rent the event space rental for two separate days, thus doubling the amount of money they spend, not only in rental feels but also in decorating fees . . . and, quite frankly, this is terribly inconvenient for the guests who will be attending.
How about a non-traditional approach to wedding venues/reception venues?
Our approach to this “money down the drain” problem is to combine the wedding ceremony, and the reception ceremony, both into one location, and quite frankly it’s amazing more people don’t do this.
It’s no problem as far as time is concerned. Our rentals are from opening to closing, usually over twelve hours, and you certainly can hold a wedding and a reception within that twelve hour window. With both events, guests will be thrilled that they can stay in place once the wedding is finished.
The only problem, then, is in finding an event room rental which has the space to handle two events. Obviously, you cannot decorate for the reception until the wedding is finished unless, of course, you rent an event space rental which can accommodate two events, like Tarrant Events Center.
At Tarrant Events Center, we have the main event hall, two VIP rooms, and over an acre of landscaped grounds, giving customers more than enough options in planning the two events.
It just makes good “cents,” if you ask us.
Don’t take no for an answer
Will every event center allow this? No, so be prepared to face quite a few naysayers who declare it simply cannot be done.
Ridiculous! If we can do it at Tarrant Events Center, others can as well.
